Review Roundup
The overall customer rating for the Asus Eee PC T91MT is 3 out of 5. There are customers who are very happy with this machine, but there are also some who complain that the multitouch screen is not responsive to fingers. This is because the touchscreen of the T91MT comes shipped uncalibrated, and the ASUS calibration utility does a poor job of calibration. You will need to use Windows 7 calibration utility which works better, and makes touching much more accurate. You can read all of the customer reviews here.
Summary of good and bad about Asus Eee PC T91MT:
Good
- Low-priced multitouch tablet
- It’s very thin and light, measuring just one inch thick and weighing two pounds
- Solid build quality
- Great Keyboard – the keys are somewhat stiff and provide an improved typing experience over any previous 7-inch or 8.9-inch model in the Eee lineup
- Easy access to upgrading the memory
- Color accuracy at various horizontal and vertical viewing angles improved compared to the T91
- GMA500 capable of some HD video decoding (with a few tweaks)
- Great battery life even with 3-cell: 5 hours, 10 minutes with Windows 7 power mode set to Power Saver, and Super Hybrid Engine set to Power Saving Mode (WiFi and Bluetooth enabled, screen brightness at around 40%). Under constant use, you can expect better than 4 hours of battery life
Bad
- Does not provide access to the SSD or WiFi modules. You will have to completely disassemble the netbook to access those components
- Poor speaker quality
- Slightly slower experience with 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor compared to other netbooks that run 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270
- Battery is not removable or consumer upgradable
- Stylus collapses during use.
Availability
The Asus Eee PC T91MT touchscreen convertible netbook is currently available on Amazon for $532.00 (free shipping).
Conclusion
If you are looking for a low cost tablet without the need for an active digitizer or powerful hardware, the T91MT is certainly worth checking out. But if you need higher speed or performance, you might want to go for other netbooks that run on Intel Atom N270 or faster processor.
