Intel Pine Trail Atom Processor Officially Launched

Intel Atom n450

Intel has officially launched the next generation of Atom processor, called Pine Trail, which is expected to be the major processor for the netbook market next year.

The new Pine Trail Atom processors announced include N450, D410, and D510, along with the NM10 Express chipset which works alongside with these processors. N450 is targeted at netbooks, while the single-core D410 and dual-core D510 are designed for nettops.

The new processors will consume 20% less power and also feature a lower thermal design. That means it will be easier for PC makers to design smaller, thinner, and occasionally fanless netbooks. According to Intel, there will be 80 over netbooks with the new processor showing up at CES 2010, which includes most major PC makers such as Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung, and Toshiba.
