Ya i agree that ASUS Eee PC 1001P was the best selling laptop in year. Considering feature and price it was best at that time. But i still don’t have any problem with it, because it is easy to upgrade.

Thank the freaking non-existent god that someone finally posted a comparison of these devices. Do you know how long I have been looking for this. I have resolved not to buy one simply because ASUS wasted so much of my time; this info should have been on their own freaking web site!!!

BTW, from photos it looks like the 1001 has a more standard key placement than 1005; the latter shrinks the right shift key to an unusably small size. That is definitely worth noting. I would never buy a keyboard with non-standard placement.

Cool comparison. It looks like the 1005PE is selling a lot better than the 1001P. I think it's because of the better keyboard and faster Wi-fi. Also, there are some stores which are now selling the 1001P, so the text above isn't 100% correct.
