It’s not official yet, but a member of Notebook Review Forum has spotted a new Sony netbook series called the VAIO M in a few stores in the UK (morecomputers, Oyyy, Tesco).
The specification of the Sony VAIO M is pretty standard: 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 Processor, 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, Bluetooth, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi. The differences that we can see from this netbook compared to the Sony VAIO W is that it has a lower resolution display (1024 x 600 instead of 1366 x 768 on the VAIO W) and a normal style keyboard (instead of the chiclet style keyboard on the VAIO W). This should also drive the price of the Sony VAIO M lower compared to the VAIO W which started at about $500. It looks like Sony is ready to compete with other netbook manufacturers in the budget netbook market with this new netbook series.
According to the UK stores, the Sony VAIO M should arrive at mid – end of March at around 320 pounds. We are not sure if it will be available in the US though.
