ASUS To Launch $200 – $250 Netbooks To Compete With Tablet PC

With tablet PCs entering the market this year, netbook sales is unavoidably affected. In order to achieve its six million netbook sales target this year, ASUSTEK, one of the major player in netbook industry, is planning to launch low cost netbook that cost no more than $250, according to Digitimes.

According to the sources of Digitimes, the new model will be priced between $200 and $250, and should either adopt Google’s Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) or Chrome OS in order to achieve such a price level. Since tablet PCs are generally priced between $299 to $499, the lower price netbook will avoid direct competition with them.
