The Eee PC 1015PED is the latest 10-inch model from Asus to replace the 1005PE. Compared to its predecessor, the Eee PC 1015PED has better specs, more stylish design, and similarly long battery life (up to 13 hours according to Asus).

While it’s not the most powerful netbook in the market, the Eee PC 1015PED is definitely one of the best rounded netbook that’s worth looking into. Unless you want a netbook for playing high-def movie (check out Aspire One 521 if you want a HD capable netbook), the 1015PED has almost everything you need for a netbook: long battery life, decent performance, ergonomic keyboard and touchpad, matte display that solve reflection problem, and stylish design.

Acer Aspire One 521

The Acer Aspire One 521 is currently the best performing 10-inch netbook on the market. Combining the 1.7GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processor with the ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphic chip, this netbook is capable of playing 1080p video flawlessly. It can also handle moderate gaming such as War Of Warcraft without any problem.

The only drawback of this netbook is that its battery life is shorter than some of the Atom-based netbooks such as the Eee PC 1005PE. But you can still expect 4 to 5 hours of battery life from this machine, which is pretty decent.

Toshiba Mini NB305-N310

The Toshiba Mini NB305 is the second generation of netbook from the company. Not only it has all the great features from the first generation NB205 (ergonomic keyboard, large touchpad, and excellent battery life), it also comes with improved an design (lighter and thinner), and a better speaker which is one of the biggest complain on the NB205.

There are 2 model available: NB305-N310 and NB305-N410. The model that we are recommending in this model is the NB305-N310. Check out one of our previous post, NB305-310 vs NB305-410, for the detailed explanation of the difference between them. If you don’t need a large storage and don’t mind staying with Windows XP, we strongly recommend the the NB305-N310 which is a cheaper model. But if you want a netbook with larger storage and running Windows 7, consider NB305-N410 which cost around $50 more.

Asus Eee PC 1001P-PU17 is one of the new Pine Trail netbook from Asus. The main difference between this model and the 1005PE is:

  • 1005PE has a glossy screen while 1001P has a matte screen
  • 1005PE can have up to 14 hours of battery life (with best configuration) while 1001P have up to 11 hours
  • 1005PE supports 802.11 b/g/n wireless while 1001P supports only 802.11 b/g

Toshiba Mini NB305 is the updated version of the NB205, one of the most popular netbook in 2009.

The new model Toshiba Mini NB305-N410 comes with a few improvements compared to its predecessor. First, it comes with the new Pine Trail platform and Intel Atom N450 processor which gives it a longer battery life (11 hours according to Toshiba). Second, the NB305 has an improved design where the battery no longer sticks out from the back like the NB205 does. And finally, the NB305 is a slightly lighter at only 2.6 pounds.

This particular model, NB305-N410WH, comes with frost white color. It’s also available in Royal Blue, Java Brown, and Onyx Black. Note however that the Onyx black version comes with slightly different specs and is slightly cheaper than this and other model with different colors.

The Acer Aspire One 532h is the flagship netbook of Acer.
