For those who own an Asus Eee PC 1005PE netbook, Asus has recently released a BIOS update that will improve the netbook screen brightness, and decrease the frequency of changing speed in fan (which means less noise from the fan).

The ASUS Eee PC 1005HA is probably the best netbook in 2009. It’s still one of the best-selling netbook as of January 2010. While having the same specs as most other netbooks on the market, what really makes it stand out from the crowd is the stylish design, ergonomic keyboard/touchpad, and excellent battery life.

With the arrival of the Intel Pine Trail, Asus has updated their netbooks with this new energy-saving platform, giving them an even longer battery life (up to 14 hours according to Asus) compared to their predecessor!

There are currently 2 models of Pine Trail netbooks from Asus: the Eee PC 1005PE and Eee PC 1001P, both come with Intel Atom N450 processor and Pine Trail chipset. Both models can be further divided into 2 sub-models, giving us a total of 4 variation to choose from: 1005PE-PU17, 1005PE-MU17, 1001P-PU17, 1001P-MU17. The Asus Eee PC 1005PE is one of the latest netbook from Asus that comes with the new Intel Atom N450 processor, and the next-generation Pine Trail platform. It’s also said to be the updated version of the popular 1005HA Seashell netbook since both models are having almost similar design and specification.

As mentioned, other than the Intel Atom N450 processor the rest of the internal components for the Eee PC 1005PE are almost similar to its predecessor, the Eee PC 1005HA. And if you are wondering if the new Intel processor is giving any performance boost to the netbook, the answer is no. From the performance test from most review websites such as Engadget, CNet, Laptop Magazine, etc., the performance of the Eee PC 1005PE is barely different to what we have seen on N270/N280 Atom-powered netbooks. What you will get from the new Intel Pineview processor though, is a much longer battery life. Overall, the Eee PC 1005PE is good for 10 to 12 hours of usage, which is around 25% increase in battery life compared to the Eee PC 1005HA.

In terms of design, the Eee PC 1005PE looks very much like the Eee PC 1005HA. Its glossy lid is covered in a scratch-resistant Infusion finish. The look is sleek, but you’ll have to be willing to put up with fingerprint smudges. What’s different from the Eee PC 1005HA, is the chiclet style keyboard. While the keys may seem smaller than those on the 1005HA which have a more traditional layout, the 1005PE keyboard is found to be easy and comfortable to type on.

Conclusion
While there’s not much improvement in terms of performance between the Eee PC 1005PE and its predecessor, the battery life of the new model is significantly longer. This certainly makes the Eee PC 1005PE an even more attractive netbook compared to the 1005HA. At $379.99, we think this netbook is definitely worth considering!

Asus Eee PC 1005PE is the next generation netbook that make use of the new Intel Atom N450 processor.

In terms of specification, this netbook is basically identical to Asus’ currently most popular netbook, the Eee PC 1005HA, only replacing the Intel Atom N280 processor with the new Atom N450 processor along with the next generation Atom platform, Pine Trail. The result is a netbook with even longer battery life compared to its predecessor. In CNet’s battery drain test, it survive for more than 8 hours of usage.

Asus is coming up with 2 new models of 10-inch netbook called the Eee PC 1005P and Eee PC 1005PE, which will both be running on the new Intel Atom Pineview processor.

The Eee PC 1005P will comes with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Starter Edition, while the slightly higher priced Eee PC 1005PE will have everything the same except for a higher capacity 250GB hard drive and Bluetooth.

Netbooknews.de has posted a few photos of the new Eee PC 1005P and 1005PE. They look pretty similar to the popular Eee PC 1005HA netbook, but with textured patterns on the lid.
