Moblin + Maemo = MeeGo

Two Linux-based mobile operating systems — Intel’s Mobilin and Nokia’s Maemo — will be merged into one platform that will run on a wide variety of mobile devices including smartphones. The new platform will be named MeeGo. Check out the following video for the message from Intel and Nokia about MeeGo.

Intel Launched App Store For Netbooks

Intel recently launched their app store for netbooks, called the AppUp Center. It’s currently still under beta, and available only for U.S. and Canada residents. In order to register, you will need to provide a billing address and also Credit card information since some application in the app store are not free. The AppUp Center will come pre-installed on new netbooks from Samsung, ASUS and Acer.

Intel Atom processor has been the main player in the netbook market, and we can see that the company is putting much effort into this market by launching the Intel Atom Developer Program. They recently interviewed the well-known netbook blogger, Sascha Pallenberg, for his opinion about the growth opportunity of the netbook market and also the opportunities for software developers to join and participate in the new Intel Atom Developer Program.
